Kita, Dandy, and Clara.

Kita, Dandy, and Clara.

It was chilly but so fun on the rooftop of the Knickerbocker Hotel, as we held our April party at St. Cloud. We danced to Mike Davis and the New Wonders, after a super dance lesson by Jeri and Neal. Our hostess Kita St Cyr kept everyone on their toes. Special thanks to our indefatigable DJ Mike Will Cut You Haar, who’s fingers didn’t fall off in the spring chill. We have MANY special guests stop by, including Miss Art Deco Dandy Dillinger, Dandy Wellington, Eden Atencio, the Art Deco Society of New York, Robin Wallace, and enough burlesque performers to start a festival. The party continued until 1:30 AM!

Big thanks to our sponsors, Barrow’s Intense Ginger Liqueur and Death’s Door Gin. We had wonderful service by the staff of St. Cloud, who treat us so well.

We don’t know when our next party will be, but it will be a super one. Thanks to all who came out.

Mike Davis and the New Wonders

Wit’s End™ presents Mike Davis and the New Wonders at St. Cloud in the Knickerbocker Hotel, Saturday, April 30, 2016. The first Wit’s End party in 7 years to be held outdoors! Advance tickets onsale.

Dance to 1920s jazz, enjoy cocktails, and wear your best vintage fashions as we move the party outdoors under the stars! Tonight the band and party take over the outdoor roof and roof bar at St. Cloud!

Led by Mike Davis, one of the city’s most renowned coronet virtuosos, The New Wonders are the living embodiment of a 1920s jazz band. This quintet brings the Prohibition era alive with a horn and woodwinds display of historic proportions. Inspired by the popular music of the Roaring Twenties, Mike Davis and the New Wonders perform at speakeasies all over the region. Tonight see them in a rare appearance outdoors under the stars on the roof the landmark Knickerbocker Hotel.

Tonight everyone’s favorite showgirl—and the party’s hostess—Kita St Cyr returns to our party to bring her million-dollar smile to Times Square.

We are hosting a special tribute tonight to the RMS Titanic on the 104th anniversary of the sinking. In addition to the ice cubes in our cocktails, we’ll raise our glasses to the man who built the Knickerbocker Hotel in 1906, the legendary John Jacob Astor IV, who lost his life in the disaster at sea. We’ll have special guests and surprises tied to the White Star Line.

Also on the bill tonight is DJ Mike Will Cut You, New York’s vintage music DJ who plays classic sounds from 80-year old recordings. He is the host of “Ragged But Right” on WFMU Radio and performs at the Jazz Age Lawn Party. The co-sponsor of the party is the Dorothy Parker Society, the drinking club with a book problem.

We had a wonderful party on March 25, 2016, at St Cloud at the Knickerbocker Hotel. We welcomed back the Buck and a Quarter Quartet, sipped classic cocktails, and had a full house for dancing.

Our hostess Eden Atencio organized a Spring/East Hat Contest with Miss Art Deco Dandy Dillinger. Special celebrity guest judge Voon Chew and the beautiful Kat MonDieu chose who sported the best Easter bonnet styles. Here are photos from the parties, thanks to Nishell Falcone for the photography. Advance tickets are on sale now for April 30 with Mike Davis and The New Wonders.

Buck and a Quarter Quartet

Wit’s End™ presents the Buck and a Quarter Quartet at St. Cloud in the Knickerbocker Hotel, Saturday, March 26, 2016.

This “quartet and a quarter” has made its mission to play forgotten gems—as well as favorites—of the golden age of American popular music. The Buck and a Quarter Quartet also play vintage-inspired originals, all on strings, with some additional instruments like C-melody saxophone, clarinet, temple blocks and bell tree.

Tonight chanteuse—and the party’s hostess—Eden Atencio, the raven-haired beauty with the mischievous smile, will join them.

For those in the dark, Wit’s End is New York City’s longest-running monthly vintage dance party. Since 2009, the soirée has been held faithfully the last Saturday each month January-October in speakeasies around New York.

The party is in the Knickerbocker Hotel, opened in 1906 by the legendary John Jacob Astor IV on the corner of Forty-second Street and Broadway. In 2015, following a $225-million renovation, it reopened to glowing reviews. Wit’s End will be ensconced in St. Cloud—called “New York’s greatest rooftop lounge” with sweeping views of Times Square—sixteen stories above Broadway.

Photos From February: Dandy, Dandy, and the Snake

Our party on Feb. 27 at the Knickerbocker Hotel, on the rooftop St. Cloud lounge, was the second-biggest party in the 7 year history of Wit’s End. It was also our Seventh Anniversary party, headlined by Dandy Wellington. There was a second Dandy in the house: Dandy Dillinger, Miss Art Deco herself. Our two special performers were Zoe Ziegfeld with her boa, Fantasia, and the tap-dancing star Gin Minsky. We also celebrated the birthdays of DJ Mike Will Cut You and Jeri Lynn. Our next party is March 26, with the Buck and a Quarter Quartet performing. Get tickets here.
